Curiosity picture book

This looks like a nice book about Curiosity for kids. I like that, in the interview, the author/illustrator notes that he has no technical qualifications for writing this book, just an abundance of inspiration and a willingness to do the research. That’s the key, really.

Another Airbender?

We cast a wide net of interest here at Generation Mars. I think this warrants a quick mention. “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is one of the greatest animated series ever made. If you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to seek it out.

It’s enjoyable at any age. My kids cut their teeth on extended plot arcs and long-term character development with this series.

Netflix is apparently working on a live action remake. My first reaction was that this is something that doesn’t need to be redone: it was so perfect the first time around. But it seems that the original creators are heading up the effort. This could be interesting…

Clair de Lune

I found this profoundly moving. Clair de Lune is always one of those prickly hair on the back of the neck songs for me. But this takes it to an entirely new level.

Bravo, NASA Goddard.

We have an illustrator!

I’m thrilled to announce that Generation Mars has an illustrator! Luis Peres, master illustrator of science fiction and fantasy, will bring his vivid style to Book One: Scratching the Surface. The image above is from his existing portfolio and serves as an example of his work. The actual illustrations are currently under development. You can see more of his work by clicking the link below, and I encourage you to take a look. It’s wonderful stuff!

First Man

A biopic of Neil Armstrong is coming in October, called “First Man”. It looks like the creative team is doing everything right. This could be really good.

“Jim and I have been spending a lot of time putting together an annotated script,” said Singer. “This is a book that will be published with the movie, and not only will it showcase beautiful stills from the film, which does look gorgeous, but beyond that we want to be very clear about what we fictionalized and when we diverged why it was we made that choice.”

The New Space Race

Everybody is getting involved!

Actually, this is part of an annual rocket festival in Thailand and Laos called Bun Bang Fai.

Thai Space Program 😛

wait for it..
